Contemporary sprinkled calf, spine gilt, rebacked retaining original spine except for upper compartment which has been renewed; corners also renewed. Pencilled signature “H.D. Lyon”. although one would be somewhat mystified if this were anything other than a reading copy for the great dealer and conoisseur, who was notoriously a stickler for condition and more often associated with Shakespeare first folios than with variorum editions of the classics.
